Brakes & clutches
Brake and clutch repairs in Hanham and Saltford
Squealing brakes, a spongy pedal or a clutch that’s slipping. These are safety and reliability issues, so it’s worth getting them looked at early. We check the whole system, quote honestly and only fit what’s needed.

Signs to book it in
Noise
Squealing, grinding or a scraping sound when you brake usually means worn pads, and leaving it damages the discs.
Pedal feel
A soft, spongy or low brake pedal, or a clutch pedal that bites very high, needs checking.
Pulling or vibration
The car pulling to one side under braking, or a shudder through the pedal, points to uneven wear or warped discs.
Clutch slip
Revs rising without matching acceleration, especially uphill or under load, means the clutch is on its way out.
Smell
A burning smell after hilly or stop-start driving can mean a dragging brake or a slipping clutch.
Warning light
A brake warning light can mean low fluid, worn pads or an ABS fault. Get it read.
What we do
Brakes. Pads and discs front and rear, calipers, flexible hoses and pipes, handbrake adjustment, and a brake fluid check. We’ll show you the worn parts and measure what’s left.
Clutches. Full clutch replacement, plate, cover and release bearing, plus the hydraulic side (master and slave cylinders) and, where sensible, the dual-mass flywheel at the same time so you’re not paying twice for labour.
Cars and vans, both branches. Brake fluid changes are covered on the servicing page.
How we quote

Brakes & clutches
How do I know my brakes need attention?
Squealing or grinding, a spongy or low pedal, pulling to one side, vibration through the pedal, or a brake warning light. Book a free brake check if you’re unsure.
How long does a clutch replacement take?
Usually a day, sometimes longer where the gearbox is awkward to remove. We’ll give you a firm timescale with the quote.
Should the flywheel be done with the clutch?
Often, yes, a dual-mass flywheel wears with the clutch and the labour to reach it is the same. We’ll advise based on its condition.
Do you do brakes and clutches on vans?
Yes, cars and vans at both branches. Loaded vans wear these parts faster, so act early.
