MOT testing
MOT testing in Hanham and Saltford
A Class 4 MOT at Crown Garage is £50. The test takes around 45–60 minutes, and if anything needs putting right we’ll explain what and how much before touching it. Book online at either branch.

What an MOT checks
The MOT is a legal check that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards. Our DVSA-approved testers look at:
Brakes & tyres
Brake performance and balance, discs, pads and lines; tyre condition, tread depth and pressures.
Lights & visibility
Headlamps, indicators, brake lights, wipers, washers and the condition of the windscreen.
Steering & suspension
Steering play, power steering, shock absorbers, springs and suspension mounts.
Structure & body
Corrosion and damage to structural areas, sharp edges, doors, mirrors and seatbelts.
Exhaust & emissions
Exhaust system security and an emissions test appropriate to your engine.
Number plates & VIN
Plates are present, secure, legible and correctly spaced; VIN is visible.
An MOT does not cover the general mechanical condition of the engine, clutch or gearbox. That’s what a service is for.
Pass, advisories and retests
If it passes, you get your certificate and you’re done. Any advisories are things to keep an eye on. We’ll talk you through which ones matter.
If it fails, we’ll show you exactly why, give you a written quote for the repairs, and only go ahead once you say so. A free partial retest is available if the car is left with us and repaired within the allowed period.
We’re a genuine independent test centre. There’s no incentive for us to fail a car. If it’s roadworthy, it passes.

MOT and service together
Booking your MOT and service at the same time means one visit, one drop-off, and any advisory work sorted there and then.
