Diagnostics & warning lights
Car diagnostics and dashboard warning lights
A warning light points to a system, not always the faulty part. We plug in to read the codes, then actually test the components and wiring to find the real cause, so you’re not paying to swap parts on a guess. Cars and vans, both branches.
Lights and symptoms we diagnose
Engine management
The amber engine light, misfires, sensors, emissions faults, EGR and turbo issues.
ABS & traction
ABS, ESP or traction control lights, wheel speed sensors, modules and wiring.
Airbag / SRS
Airbag warning light faults, seatbelt pretensioners and crash sensors.
DPF & emissions
Diesel particulate filter warnings, regeneration problems and glow plug faults.
Electrical gremlins
Intermittent faults, flat batteries overnight, lights, windows and central locking.
Running problems
Rough idle, hesitation, poor economy, limp mode, with or without a light on.
How a proper diagnostic works
We read the stored and live data, then use that to test the actual parts, voltages, resistances, pressures, live sensor readings, against what the manufacturer says they should be.
You get a clear explanation of what’s wrong, what’s causing it, and a quote to put it right. If it’s a quick fix, we’ll often sort it there and then.

Diagnostics
My engine light is on. Is it safe to drive?
A steady light usually means drive gently and get it checked soon. A flashing light means stop as soon as it’s safe. If in doubt, call us.
Does a diagnostic just read the code?
No. The code is a starting point. We test the components and wiring to find the real cause before quoting any repair.
Can you just clear the light for the MOT?
A warning light that returns is an MOT failure, and we won’t clear a real fault without fixing it. We’ll diagnose and repair it properly.
How long does it take?
A straightforward diagnosis is often under an hour. Intermittent electrical faults can take longer. We’ll keep you updated.
